A partnership
between Colchester Museums, Theatre Resource and the Royal Association
for Deaf People worked with school children to produce a video of
"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".
Ann and
Jane Taylor, Colchester residents, wrote the rhyme in 1806. The
exhibition consists of short texts and photographs, with a signed
video forming the centre piece of the display.
The exhibition
on the first floor of Colchester library will be supplemented by
other materials from the library's local history department. It
will run from 4th to 31st December 2000.
Councillor
James Gordon, Cabinet Member for learning Services said "This
ground breaking project demonstrates a unique co-operation between
official agencies and members of the deaf community. We are happy
to be able to display it to a wider audience through the library
service."
